LAST BLOOD 2 - A DISTORTED VIEW
Using therapeutic photography to do further research on identity in the transition of The Menopause. These images were created with the consent of participants. Exploring the 'self' is a good starting point and I took it upon myself with the information gained in the interviews and qualitative research questionaires to assemble new portraits that I explored creatively using different elements such as hot wax, running water, ice, boiling water, fire, coloured red water, shredders, scissors, pens and knives. I wanted to produce images that would represent the experience of menopause for some of the women and myself. It is not easy to photograph certain symptoms and the concepts that relate to the issues in the lives of these women. I was working with my own emotions as well as the theory behind loss and change, together with how these issues may manifest within identity within the portaits taken of these women.
